'Moving Sideways'- Nationwide predicts the future for the property market.

In the property market in the past six months, Nationwide has described the trend as, 'moving sideways' due to the continually unchanging housing prices that have lasted through the whole of June.

Nationwide have stated that the typical value of a home in June 2010 was 1.1% higher than it is currently in 2011. Housing prices have remained the same in June as they were in May, hence the 'sideways' analogy.

Due to the current economic climate, housing prices are expected to change slightly over the course of the year, with the current average UK home costing £168,205.
